Birthday Doll- A jointed waldorf baby doll
Hannah's 3rd Birthday is coming up. This is her gift from us.The bottom of the body is filled with buckwheat to give it weight. The rest is filled with wool.
Because I think it's valuable for children to watch their parents creating them things, she watched me make her. She usually isn't allowed to play with my works-in-progress since so much of the dolls I make ends up in other people's homes. So when I told her that it was a baby for her, and let her hold it, she was thrilled. Carried the little limb-less baby around the living room as I made her arms and legs.
She's up on a shelf and waiting til the 13th when she will become Hannah's forever ♥

So cute! I am going to attempt to make my little girl one (and maybe the boys)!
You did a beautiful job on Hannah's special doll! I can't believe she's going to be three years old already... a great age for having a "real" baby.
Thanks! I can't believe she's 3 either. My little girl!
so sweet!!
That's so neat! I'm happy for you both. It's a cute doll. I like the idea of buckwheat in the bottom to help it sit.
